Castle Law Office - Traffic Ticket AlertTraffic Ticket Scam in the Kansas City Metro

Police in Independence, MO are warning people about an email scam that targets drivers with fake traffic tickets.

Last week police received five phone calls from people who were sent a suspicious email about a traffic ticket. The message is from a us.gov email account. It claims that the receiver of the email committed a traffic violation. In the email it has specific instructions on how to appeal the violation.

Independence Police are warning people not to open the attachment due to malware. The attachment is a virus that can gain personal information from your computer.

The Independence, MO Police Department want to let people know they do not contact anyone about violations via email. The police department does not have red light camera either.

If you receive a suspicious email about a traffic violation do not open it. Contact the Independence Police Department.
