Safe Motorcycles

Riding a motorcycle allows riders to feel free and spend time with friends while on rides. Being out in the open and being exposed to the wind and sun feels great. However, that great feeling also puts bikers at risk of being in a serious accident or worse.

What would normally be fairly insignificant to a car or truck can be a life threatening accident on a motorcycle. Motorcycle enthusiasts are very skilled and experienced drivers, but other people can be distracted and that can lead to a very dangerous situation.

Motorcycle Accident Rate

In 2013 the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 4,668 motorcycle riders were killed in motor vehicle accidents. Over 88,000 were reported injured. 14% of fatalities are from motorcycle riders.

Let’s look at different bikes and what their safety factors are on the roads.

Safest Motorcycles For All Riders

The Harley Davidson Road King comes with some innovative safety features. This bike is significantly safer than other Harley’s we see on the road today. This bike comes equipped with ABS brakes, but it also has electronically linked brakes. This allows for greater control. The steering is also more responsive than other models previously released. Last but not least, the lights are brighter, including turn signal lights.

The Honda Gold Wing comes equipped with ABS brakes which significantly reduces the chance of fatal accidents. Honda has always been committed to quality and the rear disc brakes on this model stands up to Honda’s commitment.

The Suzuki GSX250R is among the safest for beginners. The seat sits low, at about 30 inches. This allows the bike to have a lower center of gravity, so it can be more manageable. It’s also very easy for people that are learning how to shift and experience the ride.

These bikes are listed as some of the safest on the road depending on which style you are looking for. One thing to keep in mind. If you are ever in an accident, get medical care immediately.
