Distracted driving is a deadly epidemic. Distracted driving is not just limited to texting or using social media while driving but every day things, such as eating and drinking, talking to passengers, or changing the radio station while driving are all distractions that take your eyes off of the road. According the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 3,166 people lost their lives in 2017 due to distracted driving. They also report that â€‹texting while driving 55 mph is equivalent to driving 100 yards (a football field) with your eyes closed. Those are some scary statistics.

Any activity that takes your attention away from driving is a potential distraction that increases the likelihood of a wreck.

According to Teen Driver Source, "distraction was a key factor in 58 percent of crashes involving drivers ages 16 to 19[.]" Additionally, they reported that "in 2017, nearly 40 percent of high school students reported texting or emailing while driving[.]"

As personal injury attorneys, we are all too familiar with the dangers associated with distracted driving. That is why we are trying to raise awareness of the epidemic while also benefiting our local teen community.

We are sponsoring a Distracted Driving Awareness Prom Promotion Campaign for local area high schools. We will provide a limousine for one lucky winner and 7 of their friends for prom night. They will be able to focus on fun while being safe and avoiding distracted driving dangers.
