September is National Preparedness Month. This month-long campaign was designed to encourage individuals and their families to have a plan in case of a disaster. Kansas and Missouri are not immune to disasters and our office wants to make sure that you’re prepared to keep you and your family safe during a disaster.
Week 1 September 1-5: Make A Plan
Week 2 September 6-12: Build A Kit
Week 3 September 13-19: Prepare for Disasters
Week 4 September 20-26: Teach Youth About Preparedness
Staying informed is crucial to disaster planning. Most cities in Kansas & Missouri offer emergency alerts to their residents. We urge everyone to sign up for alerts to stay up-to-date on the latest warnings and threats to our community. We also recommend having a battery-powered emergency radio in case you do not have access to a phone.
