Giving Back to Kansas City
On September 9th, 2015 Castle Law Office gave back to the Kansas City area by helping Habitat For Humanity restore a local Kansas City family's home. This project took place on the 2900 block of Wayne. The staff at Castle Law Office was happy to help and see an immediate impact of what their hard work and dedication to Kansas City had on the day.
Castle Law Office employees in Kansas City will be volunteering for Habitat For Humanity to help a local Kansas City family finish their new home. Jason Amerine, owner of Castle Law Office said, “Castle Law is a firm that has always been dedicated to helping people and this is a way to help the community. We are owned and operated locally. We feel that it is important to give back to the community we all grew up in.”
The “build project” will take place on September 9, 2015 in Kansas City. The day will consist of getting the exterior of the house prepared for painting and winterizing. Amerine says, “I hope the staff gets a better understanding of the impact that their hard work and service has on the community. It’s hard to see the help we provide to people with all the paperwork that has to be done throughout any given day, but when you can see something tangible like a house being built, I hope they will see the impact their hard work has on a local family.”
The “build project” will start at 8 AM at the Kansas City Habitat Office. From there the team will go to the site to help the family get the exterior of the house prepared. The build location is located at 2915 Wayne in Kansas City.
Castle Law Office is a law firm that helps people in the Kansas City metro with bankruptcy and personal injury cases. “Our firm focuses on bankruptcy law,” said Amerine. We are consistently helping people from losing their homes due to financial stress. What better way to help a family by helping build their house.”
History of Habitat For Humanity
Kansas City Habitat for Humanity started in 1979. They are the seventh oldest affiliate of Habitat International. Habitat Kansas City’s vision is simple, provide a decent, affordable place to raise a family and build financial stability through home ownership.
Habitat for Humanity Kansas City is an affiliate of Habitat For Humanity International (HFHI) which is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. HFHI provides technical assistance but each affiliate operates independently raising its own funds, finding its own sites and selecting its own families. Each affiliate tithes to HFHI to assist in building efforts worldwide.
Home ownership represents the essence of the American Dream. It also represents the single largest investment most people make in their lifetime.
Yet for too many people the American Dream is just that; a dream they will never realize because they do not qualify for a conventional loan to purchase a home.
Habitat for Humanity believes to break the cycle of poverty, low-medium income families need their income spent on housing to serve two purposes: provide a decent, affordable place to raise a family and build wealth through home ownership.
Executive Director of the Kansas City Habitat For Humanity Office said “We couldn’t do any of this work without the help and support of the community and our partners. Thank you for giving of the time and resources to make this happen.”
Jason Amerine who grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Center High School is proud of his city. “I’m proud of our city. I’ve spent my life dedicating myself to the city. This is one more thing I can do to give back to Kansas City. This place has made me the person I am today,” said Amerine.
